OXFORD THE CITY OF DREAMING SPIRES

A first glance at Oxford shows that it is unique, with mellow beauty and architectural elegance, crowned by the glory of the “dreaming spires”. Oxford boasts one of the world’s greatest and oldest universities, and a worldwide reputation as a seat of learning, 16,992 students study each year at the university.

You will see a compact city buzzing with creative energy. Visit some of it’s 39 colleges many of which are open to the public, including Christ Church College, the grandest of them all. Albert Einstein and Lewis Carroll were students, and Carroll wrote the enchanting Tales of “Alice in Wonderland” here and it was also a location for one of The Harry Potter Films. Walk in the gardens beside the River Chamel or The Thames.

Oxford’s charisma has inspired much-loved authors, and provided the location for popular films and television series like “Inspector Morse” and Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Hall. Other attractions include the 15th Century Bodieian Library, with its seven million books and 110 miles of shelving, and the Ashmolean Museum the worlds first public museum.
