Tour 13: Beaulieu Motor Museum & Dorset
We drive straight to Beaulieu in the heart of the New Forest, and stop at the museum for you to enjoy Lord Montague’s fine collection of over 250 vehicles on show from early family cars to historic racing cars, F1 and rally cars, dramatically displayed on sweeping steel structures allowing you to view the vehicles from completely new angles and perspectives.
There are vehicles from every motoring era and rare oddities such as a giant orange on wheels. Beaulieu was one of the first Treasure houses in England to open its doors to visitors in 1952. Now 54 years later, Beaulieu is host to 350.000 visitors every year. Visitors can see the magnificent rooms and treasures of the Palace House – Lord Montagu’s family home since 1538. The 13th century Abbey features an Exhibition of the daily life of its Cistercian Monk founders. Visit the Victorians’ garden, the kitchen garden laid out on the site of the original 1872 Palace House kitchen garden.
Ride the Monorail and get a birds eye view over the grounds. We leave the museum by mid - afternoon so as we can drive you through some wonderful Dorset countryside and small towns on our way home.
